This ad sums up where we are in our cultural evolution: ambivalent. We’re beginning to believe materialism isn’t the answer, but we’re not quite sure yet what is. We’re still leaning back on what we know…not yet ready to lean forward into something different. I think the advertiser meant to be tongue-in-cheek, but they kind of nailed it.
